The end of May saw another visit to the streets of Monaco by the Formula 1 circus and Vitesse were also there to ensure that members enjoyed the best that the Principality has to offer.

 

With a mixed weather forecast, the weekend turned out to be fine and sunny from Thursday through until race day on Sunday, where the weather helped play a part in overall victory for McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton. After tapping the barriers and picking up a puncture, Lewis ended up in the right place at the right time when the inevitable safety car periods occurred. He went on to drive an excellent race clinching victory on the notoriously difficult street circuit.

 

As in previous years, Vitesse members were able to watch the drama unfold from an excellent vantage point on the balcony above the Automobile Club of Monaco with a great view of the start finish straight into St Devote and the area in front of the Royal Box where the champagne was duly sprayed by a victorious Hamilton.

 

A trip through the Formula 1 pit lane and the obligatory drinks at the Racscasse, Stars n Bars, Tip Top and Sas Café with a number of Monaco regulars capped off a great weekend. Visits to the Porsche Supercup and Formula Renault paddocks were also made to catch up with old friends.

 

A specially commissioned hard-backed book commemorating the weekend’s events has been produced by Vitesse and is available at the Club House for those that wish to relive Monaco memories or see what the race has to offer for next year.
